Opening Up Conversations About Race | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Characters)
A well-known anthropologist hopes to open up discussions about race issues.
Dr. Yolanda Moses spoke with a crowd at Univeristy of Minnesota Rochester Monday night.
She is one of the committee members who put together the race exhibit that's currently on display at the Rochester Public Library.
Dr. Moses hopes her speech and the display spur conversations about diversity.
“Part of this is to educate people to be empowered to create the kind of community they want, regardless of what people say, in terms of you can't do this, you can't do that,” Moses said.
Dr. Moses says race is a social construct, in other words, it's whatever people make it.
