This year marks the sixth year of Thursdays on first & 3rd Summer Market and Music Festival being branded as such, however a smaller scale market actually began two years prior from passionate volunteers and community members.  Thursdays on first & 3rd has become a truly authentic community gathering place with a variety of live music featured on two stages, a tasteful spread of outdoor food choices and a vibrant mix of market vendors showcasing art, craft and baked goods products.  Thursdays on first & 3rd begins June 7th and runs every Thursday through August 30th.

Rochester Civic Theatre has announced the new season of 2012 – 2013. Six main stage productions will be presented during the 61st season. The new season brochure is available for the general public at the Civic Theatre.

Eight high school artists are competing for the chance to have their art showcased at the US capitol.

Starting Wednesday, the artwork will be displayed at the Rochester Art Center.

It's all part of the congressional art competition hosted by Congressman Tim Walz.

On May 7th, a panel of judges will choose which piece of artwork should be featured at the capitol during next year’s session.

"It’s quite an honor and quite an opportunity for the students. Part of what we do here and part of what we value is encouraging artistic growth of students. This is a perfect fit for us,” Rochester Art Center Executive Director Sarah Stauder says.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
