Lanesboro Residents Are Excited for the Season | Arts & Culture

A lot of us are excited for the warm Spring and Summer months ahead, but one local community is probably more excited than most.

Every year thousands of tourists and weekend travelers visit the small town of Lanesboro.

It's a town of under 1000 people, but it still has the highest amount of bed and breakfast hotels in the entire state.

Many residents depend greatly on a flourishing tourism industry.

Starting mid-May things are expected to pick up for the season

"We're somewhat landlocked here, because we have bluffs on all sides and so we don't have room or places to put in an industrial park or whatever so our focus is tourism, because we've got such a beautiful spot," Lanesboro Chamber of Commerce President Marv Eggert says.

Residents of Lanesboro say the peak season for tourism is from May 15th through the end of October.
