Meals on Wheels Needs Help | Community Spirit
The organization that oversees the Meals on Wheels program in Rochester needs help. Officials from Family Service Rochester say they can use all the volunteers they can get and at least 15 people for sure.
Of course without those volunteers, the meals wouldn't be delievered to the 90 or so people who take advantage of the program. But the Executive Director of Family Service Rochester, Brad Lohrbach, says it's more than that.
"Often times it's not just the food that gets delievered, but the smile and the presence of that volunteer at someone's door often means as much to them or more than the food they receive," says Lohrbach.
The meals are delivered from 11:15 to 12:15. Anyone wishing to help needs to be at least 18-years-old and have a reasonable driving record. You can get more information here: http://www.familyservicerochester.org/mealsonwheels.html
