Scouting for Food this Saturday | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The 2012 Scouting for Food drive throughout the Gamehaven Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be Saturday, March 10th. That day, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers and volunteers will be going door-to-door collecting food donations. The annual food drive is more important than ever for families struggling with hunger. Minnesotans are visiting food shelves in ever increasing numbers. At the Channel One Supplemental Food Shelf, nearly 4,000 familes visit each month.
The most requested items to help fill the shelves at Channel One include box dinners like Hamburger Helper. Also, things like canned tuna and chicken, peanut butter, cereal, canned fruit, pasta, and rice. During Scouting for Food Channel One and the Gamehaven Council request that community members do not donate perishable items, baby food or items in glass jars.
To participate in the food drive, you should place a box or bag of non-perishable food by your front door by 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 10th. Scouts will pick it up and deliver it to Channel One where it will be weighed, sorted and prepared for distribution. Your help is greatly appreciated!
