Channel One Food Bank & Shelf Announces New Director | Community Spirit
Channel One, a local food bank and shelf that supports local communities in Southeastern Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, has hired a new director for the organization. After an extensive interview and selection process involving nearly 70 candidates nationwide, the organization’s board of directors has decided that the best person to lead Channel One moving forward was their very own Jennifer Woodford.
Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has been working in the non-profit field for nearly 15 years. For the last three years, she has been serving as the communications and development director at Channel One. Her focus has been on marketing, communications, media, fundraising and client services. With her vast experience and background, she says she is ready to take on a new challenge.
“For me, serving at Channel One and helping feed people is a part of who I am,” said Woodford. “I believe that no one should go hungry, and I will do what I can to ensure that does not happen.”
The “Map the Meal Gap” study conducted last year found that 1 in 10 Minnesotans do not know where they will find their next meal. This saddening statistic is exactly what motivates the new director to help. According to Woodford, her goal for the organization is “to continue to strengthen our current relationships and build new ones so that we can secure and distribute enough food so that not one meal is missed, and no one goes hungry.”
Channel One is thankful to have a director as passionate and committed as Jennifer Woodford.
