Title (Max 100 Characters)
Nearly 200 kids ages 6 through 15 are expected to take part in this Saturday’s Hy-Vee IronKids youth triathlon at Rochester Athletic Club in Rochester.
The action starts at 8 a.m. when the Senior competitors (ages 12-15) take to the water for the swim portion of the event. At the conclusion of the Senior race, the Intermediates (ages 9-11) will race, followed by the Juniors (ages 6-8). A tentative schedule of events is outlined below.
The USAT-sanctioned IronKids youth triathlons follow the same swim-bike-run format as an adult triathlon, with distances adjusted for the ages of the competitors. The top five boys and the top five girls at each age level will qualify to compete in the Hy-Vee IronKids U.S. Championship, to be held September 1 in Des Moines.
