2nd Street Construction Update | Events

On Friday July 6, 2012  2nd St S.W. construction will close all access to and from 11th Ave. S.W. for the weekend. Second St S.W. at 11th Ave. will remain open to east and west bound traffic with one lane in each direction and the signals remaining operational. The closure is necessary to extend watermain across the north leg of the intersection. On Monday morning July 9, 11th Ave. S.W. will be re-opened to northbound traffic, but will remain closed to southbound traffic for a period of about two to three weeks while the N.W. quadrant of the intersection is reconstructed.  South Bound 11th Ave. traffic will need to proceed east or west on 1st St. S.W. to access 2nd St. during this period or find alternative routes.

Through traffic on 2nd Street SW and access to Virgil’s Auto Clinic and Towing will be maintained at all times during this phase of the intersection reconstruction. Guidance signs for pedestrian crossings of 2nd Street SW and 11th Ave SW will be provided and maintained throughout the construction period.

Official detours will not be established for this street work. Motorists are asked to use nearby roads to avoid this segment of 11th Avenue SW and to exercise caution in and around the work zone.
